Peugeot to rebadge Mitsubishi MiEV as iOn
Mitsubishi has signed a contract to supply electric cars to Peugeot-Citroen and revealed the car will be rebranded the iOn.
Based on the i-MiEV, a small city car with four doors and a range of around 100 miles, which Mitsubishi began selling in Japan this year, Peugeot said its iOn will have a range of around 81 miles and will take six hours for a full charge through a 220-volt outlet. A fast-charging system will provide an 80 percent charge in 30 minutes.
Mitsubishi announced plans to introduce five more electric cars by the end of the 2013 fiscal year. Peugeot will begin selling the iOn by the end of 2010 and will target around 25,000 units a year.
